The revenue arm of Government of Liberia has honored the Liberia Business Registry at it’s fiscal year Tax Payers Appreciation Day in Paynesville.
The Liberia Revenue Authority said it was bestowing the honor on LBR becuse the registry’s effective use of new technology to advance government’s tax collection.
“This certificate is awarded to Liberia Business Registry for the successful incorporation of new technology (mobile money) in the entity’s business process, the government revenue collectir stated.
Scores of tax payers who attend the offices of LBR use either direct deposit or mobile money to pay for services rendered at the entity as a result or new measure agreed upon by both institutions.
Upon receipt of the award at the Paynesville City Hall late Wednesday, the Registrar General of Liberia- Samson Dee said it was an honor to be part of government’s effort to institute a transformative mode of tax payment .
Registrar General Dee, a season tax adminsitrator and former head of Sector Agencies at LRA told journalist he is committed to ensuring that making business in Liberia is “easy, fast, safe and simple”.
“This is why we have built a modern website that enables you to register your business online and avoid long queue”, said Dee.
He said the business registry is grateful for the honor, but takes seriously the duty upon it to help the government collect all it’s lawful taxes in the most convenient way.
The Liberia Revenue Authority’s Tax Payers Appreciation Day brought together several corporate entities including APM Terminals, Firestone Liberia and Total Liberia.
Finance Minister Samuel D Tweh Jr, the Minister or Commerce Prof Wilson Tarpeh, Supreme Court Judge- Yussif Kaba and many government officials also others attended the event.
